December Update at 13th Flow

Many of you are returning to your normal routine after a long weekend.  With the holiday season and the irregular schedules that often come with it,  it can be tempting to surrender your healthy routines around training and nutrition with the hope of pulling things back together in January.  We hope you’ll use this opportunity to reset for the remainder of the month, there’s no need to dig yourself into a hole when it comes to progress you’ve made in your health & fitness goals.  You absolutely can fully engage with friends & family, delicious meals, and holiday traditions without giving up what you’ve worked so hard for. A few tips to keep you on track this season:

  • Continue coming to class!  I promise you’ll feel much better if you come consistently;

  • Stay Hydrated, keep refilling that water bottle.  If you drink alcohol, drink even more water than normal to combat the dehydrating effects;

  • Continue to eat nutrient dense meals and snacks including healthy proteins and fats  to keep your appetite satisfied and your body fueled. Smaller portions more frequently can help make sensible decisions easier to make;

  • Don’t feel bad!  Allow yourself to enjoy what you choose to partake in, without guilt.


BASIC NEEDS DRIVE

We are collecting basic supplies for our fellow humans who are living on the street.  Here’s the rundown:

  • Collect basic needs items* here at the gym until December 14th

  • On 12/14 divide & pack donations into individual care packs

  • Deliver care packs to folks living under the 51st Street viaduct

  • Take leftover care packs with you, if you see folks in need outside, give them one!

  • Energy bars, granola bars

  • Fruit Snacks, dried fruit, fruit leather, fruit cups/pouches

  • Beef/Turkey Jerky, Tuna

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Gallon size ziplock bags

  • Socks, gloves, hats

  • Cough drops

PERSONAL CARE ITEMS

  • Wet wipes

  • Tissues

  • Shampoo

  • Soap

  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste

  • Feminie Hygiene Products

  • Deodorant

  • Lotion

  • Lipbalm

Please consider adding some of these items to your shopping list over the coming weeks and drop them off in the bin at 13th Flow.
